Why does everyone get so defensive when you start talking about 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

None of this is really useful on the street. The minute someone posts times from another car it is as if they were insinuating that everyone who has an RS4 has an inferior car. We all should know that is not so. Are RS4 owners that insecure(I hope not and don't think so)
Everyone who bought an Rs4 bought it because they thought it was a great car(and it is). If everyone REALLY only cared about the performance of the car, they would all have bought Z06s for about the same price.
Performance numbers are like women's ****. Big ones are great. But if they happen to be on an otherwise fugly body or if her face could stop a clock, or she has the personality of a slug, you won't be interested.
I have asked before, "how much performance is enough?" Lets suffice it to say the the RS4 has more than enough for most.

I don't understand...
Sounds like you don't feel the performance of the RS4 is up to snuff, when it is a major strong point, IMO.
Also, 0-60 and 1/4 mile are still the benchmark engine performance measures used. I don't know what could replace them for speed.

Yes, but straight line performance is not the only criterion by which a car is judged.
The RS4 has great performance, but it also has other great attributes. BTW, lap times are another measure of performance. If you remember the old Topgear video of S4 vs M3. The M3 won the 1/4 mile drag race but the S4 beat the M3 on the track. Both are great performance cars, but have different strong points.

Then it's even stronger there...
comparing it to a Z06 Corvette, a comparison I've seen a lot here, doesn't make sense.
RS4 owners shouldn't be subjected to this constant nitpicking. It's a great car. A bit over priced at $70k, but that goes with the territory(small numbers made).

love the analogy...
but what the hell would everyone be doing on forums if this kind of talk wasnt going on?
everyone likes to confirm to themselves that they made the right decision in purchasing whichever car they did...
besides, if my friend and i hooked up with 2 diff girls and mine had bigger **** but an uglier face, you KNOW that i would have to focus on that....its male nature

What I'm trying to say is that both cars are great cars. Just because
one of them happens to have better numbers in a certain performance catagory, doesn't make one car "better" than the other. Just different. Also no need to become defensive. I don't think many here would trade their RS4s for a Zo6 even though the ZO6 is faster. But both are great cars. But each cars have their stong points.
