Default Why the hell is it so hard to find a good gas station with air.....(somewhat long rant)

its very cold out so needed air badly. Went to 4 gas stations.

1) Usually has a great working pump. Was set to 28 but its always set low but works. Tried filling up air, took out 10 lbs and then attendant tells me its broken. Drive with 20 lbs in one tire to gas station 2.

2) pump is broken. drive to next gas station across the street (intersection with 3 gas stations).

3) Air is 50 cents. Put in 50 cents. Fill two passenger side tires upto spec. Go to fill 3rd tire (engine drivers side) and money runs out. Put in another 50 cents and the pump breaks now leaving this tire with 15 lbs of air. Manage to slowly add air upto 31 lbs. Drive to 4th gas station 4 blocks down (already 30 mins late for meeting at this point).

4) Before i even start i go to attendant to ask him if the pump is working. He is like I dont know. I was like well before I put in money can you check. He goes to me, "I am too lazy" i was like WTF, its your gas station. Hes like "its not mine, its Valero's" and begins to pump gas for someone and ignores me.

So I leave at at this point I have 2 tires with 41. 1 Tire at 31.5 and the 4th tire at about 39.

I hate gas stations. Dont promise air if you never have it!

Default I had the same problem, so I bought a small power supply w/air compressor.

I got it at Home Depot. Basically it's like a full-size car battery inside a plastic case with an air compressor attached. You can also use it to jump-start a car, and the battery is rechargeable. Works great.

The other problem with gas station air compressors is that they're often poorly maintained...they don't drain off the condensation inside the tank, as they should. If that happens, then you're blowing air AND water inside your tires, which can lead to balance issues.
