while the width is not ideal for winter use, winter tires are available in the stock 255/35/19 size
if you want to go with narrower tires for snow traction (like 225), it is best to go with an 18" wheel that is narrower as well. The stock 19" are 9" in width and would not be good for 225 width tires or smaller.
