Would love to know how people are launching their cars.
Being that this is the first AWD car I own, I would like to make sure that I don't experience any burning of the clutch. Please post "your" correct way of launching your car. Thanks fellas

I start out in 2nd most of the time when driving in traffic and I do this by simply
letting the clutch out until I feel/hear it begin to engage - then I simply add throttle and let it out further.
Doing this allows me to simply stay in 2nd or if the speed allows, I shift from 2nd to 4th.
I find the clutch in my RS4 very easy to modulate.
Love, love, love the car.

Re: 4000rpm, drop/sidestep clutch and floor it. All four tires chirp and you're gone.
Can you describe "drop/sidestep" the clutch in more detail. I've been practicing hard launches but to be honest they are not easy for me on this car. Do you really drop the clutch or do you feather it. Any tips would be much appreciated.

You must drop it as aggressively as you can:
If you feather it or drop it too slowly, you'll burn the clutch.
In more detail: hold revs at 4000rpm. Simultaneously, let go of the clutch pedal and floor the throttle as quickly as you can. "sidestepping" the clutch means you slide your foot off of it to let it spring back quickly- I personally don't do this, I just pull my foot back quickly enough.
You'll know you've done it right if you get the tires to spin. Getting the tires to spin is crucial, because it means your clutch isn't taking most of the punishment. Just hold the throttle in and enjoy the ride, but remember to shift!
I've launched this car over 100 times by now (10,000 miles on it), on dry pavement, wet pavement, and snow. Use less revs when launching on lower-traction surfaces.
