Default x-post: For those wondering about the benefits of adding downpipes...

sbh tuned added them on his S4 and saw very large gains in low end torque. This is what others have seen. Good to know...

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/407810.phtml</a

Default The benefits of downpipes on the S4 V8 are known......

The RS4 motor is a different story.

Is Milltek definitely the way to go for exhaust on RS4?

Default They're definitely different but not that different...

I bet you guys will see similar gains. The modded RS4 starts to look similar to the power profile of an RS4 motor, but with HUGE gains in torque. I bet you guys will see some very nice things. Similar exhaust setup anyways...

Default Magnaflow makes a very nice system as well but no downpipes....

would be cool to see if some one would mate some Milltek downpipes to a magnaflow catback. I'd bet the engine note would absolutely scream.

Default Heard mixed things about Magnaflow on the S4/RS4. I had Magnaflow

pipes on my M3, but I removed the mufflers and replaced them with race mufflers by CoastFab.

I think, to keep thinks simple I want to just go with one system. What about Lebree (sp?)?

Default Labree has a mixed history of product quality with ...

several episodes of cracked welds and blown cats. I'd stick with companies with strong track records such as Milltek, Magnaflow, APR (billy boat), etc. I have heard that the new Fast Intentions stuff which is a new company where a former Labree employee started it has improved quality. I had one of their exhausts at the house and it looked very well made.

FWIW, the only bad thing I heard about magnaflow was some one who THOUGHT they were experiencing decreased torque which isnt likely at all. It was likely just the person's perceptions that were off. It happens. With the powerbands we have it is very hard to guess at hp gains or losses by "feel". In all honesty I couldnt have "felt" the increase of any of my mods and I have gone from about 340/300 to 380/350.

Default Well, we'll all be very happy if you are correct but the reason we are skeptikal is that......

Milltek has had downpipes and catback out for about 8 months now. The cat-back exhaust has been dyno tested independently to yield a 20hp gain. This corresponds with Milltek's claims. There has been no word whatsoever on the downpipes. If there was any gain to be had, I would think these results would have been widely publicized by now.

Milltek has a full system, right? Anyone making headers yet (probably don't need to do much here)?
