Default You'll cringe (long)

I have about 1000 miles on my car and a "guidemark" pick-up truck (the truck that paint the yellow lines) pulled in front of me or more like it.... cut me off. He wasn't spraying and I was stuck in back of him about a 1/2 mile and couldn't do anything about it as I was hemmed in, but when I got home I noticed yellow paint on the tires, wheel wells, wheels and lower panels!!!!!

Anyway, some soap and water and elbow grease got the yellow paint off the lower panels and wheels. However, the front left tire has yellow speckles in the grooves and the wheel well liner is kinda grainy and I got some of it out and isn't really noticeable, but it is to me. I got out soem paint thinner and worked on the wheel wells a little more and it is better but still noticeable. I put paint thinner on a q tip and tested/dabbed it on the tire, but paint thinner and rubber do not mix as it looked like it was disintegrating, so I stopped that.

I've got no luck, my clear bra goes on next week and the road I have to drive every day to work is getting milled!

Any suggestions on the wheel well liners, besides getting them replaced?

Default Some suggestions

1. for tires try brake fluid (remember that it has to work with rubber since the seals in all brakes are rubber gaskets - before the days of armor-all I use to use this on my tires as a dressing for years)
2.for the wheel wells - I'd try acetone - just don't get it on the paint of the body.

Default The brake fluid will attack your paint so keep it off of the body too.

forgot to add that.

Default just make sure you don't put too much such that it slings onto the paintwork

imho, it's a bit too risky for something cosmetic. if you put too much and it slings, get ready to respray your doors and lower sills.

Default Hold on...

You should never use solvent based or corrosive chemicals on tires, NEVER.

I wouldn't even consider using brake fluid or getting it anywhere near the paint, wheels(as they are painted and finished), plastic wheel well liners, or tires.

For the tread of tires, use soap and water and a scrub brush(not metal). If you don't want to remove the tire, just turn steering wheel to left or right to expose the area of tread you need to work on to clean.

For wheel wells, if the yellow paint is still fresh and in spots, try a netted sponge with soap and water. It worked on the body panels, right? What little remains will soon be covered up by dirt anyway.
