2006 S4 Avant
I've been looking for an Avant S4 for a while now. I've come across one and I wanted to get your guys opinion. It's a 2006 S4 Avant with a little over 50,000 miles. So it will have no warranty. It's in pretty decent shape. It does have Navigation. It also has 17" Rims with snow tires along with the factory 18" rims. They are asking $34,900 for it but I will only go as high as $30,000. Would you guys go for this car? I'm a bit afraid of the high mileage and no warranty thing.
Thanks

50k for me and zero issues. Means nothing though. The question you should ask yourself is...
can you afford/stomach the worst case repair scenario without a warranty?
Dollars and cents aside, there are plenty of other options available for $30k with similar fun, style and a warranty.
-or-
Look in to an after market warranty if you are sold on this model.

Maybe I should just stick with my original though of 2006 A4 Avant 2.0t with a chip
Those are mid $20k with a warranty and should be just about as much fun. The problems is that it's so f'ing hard to find an Avant with manual tranny. That's why I'm drawn to this S4.

No Clear Answer Here...Do Your Research and.....
take the plunge. No warranty = no guarantees. That said, take a long look at the car's history...all required maint performed...number of warranty claims/types. If everything cks out, you'll most likely have a reliable car. In recent years...esp the B7...the Audi quality has improved dramatically but again, there's no guarantee. Bottom line, if you're not willing to take some degree of informed risk, you shouldn't buy any used car without a warranty.
As far as the price, $34,900 is defiantly too high. If you can get the car for @ $30-31, this is a good price for you and still fair for the seller.
P.S. Consider an Audi dealer CPO, but be prepared to pay @$1500-$2000 more. You're buying peace of mind.
