All this talk about brake fluids. Here are some facts on the Motul 5.1 and RBF 600 brake fluids...
Both are polyglycol based (not silicone based) and can be mixed together or with their regular DOT 4 and DOT 3 fluids. However, Motul says to avoid mixing any other type of fluids with the RBF 600 because it will diminish its performance level. The 5.1 as the second best performance rating and is especially deigned to work on cars with ABS systems because of its extremely low viscosity levels even when the temperature drops to -40C/F. Because of this it lets the valves in the ABS system work more rapidly and efficiently.
Personally, I use the 5.1 in my off season and through winter and use the RBF 600 in the summer and competition months.
As for the ATE BLUE, it as been written before that it will apparently cause clutch damage.
First let us look at the 5.1 specs. I'll translate the key points...
- 100% synthetic. 5.1 non silicone base.
- For use in all cars with hydraulic clutches and brakes
- systems recommending DOT 5.1, DOT 4, DOT 3
- from the car manufacturers.
- Specially designed/adapted for cars with ABS.
- Meets the following norms: FMVSS 116 DOT 5.1,
- NON SILICONE BASE & DOT 4 & DOT 3
- and SAE J 1703
- Long life fluid.
- Very low viscosity at -40 degrees, better than the
- DOT 3 & 4 fluids. That is why it is said to be better
- and specially designed for cars with ABS.
- Superior wet and dry boiling points.
- Mixable with DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1
- NON SILICONE BASE fluids.
- DO NOT MIX with mineral (LHM) or
- silicone base (DOT 5 silicone base) products.
- Flush after 12 or 24 months following the car
- manufacturers recommended flush intervals.
- This product is 100% synthetic with a
- polyglycol base.

Now for the RBF 600 specs...
- 100% synthetic DOT 4 fluid.
- For use in all cars with hydraulic clutches and brakes
- systems recommending DOT 5.1, and DOT 3
- from the car manufacturers.
- Especially designed to resist extreme heat under
- competition type use with steel or carbon brakes.
- Meets the following norms: FMVSS 116 DOT 4
- J1703 / ISO 4925.
- Extremely high resistance and thermal stability.
- higher dry (593F / 312C) and wet boiling points
- (420F / 216C) when compared to other fluids.
- Very efficient in rainy conditions with a very high wet
- boiling point. Its wet boiling point (420F /216C) is
- even higher than the DOT 3's dry boiling point!
- Because of this higher wet boiling point, it prevents
- "vapor lock" from happening. The wet boiling point
- is measured after the fluid as absorbed 3.5% humidity.
- Avoid mixing with other polyglycol based fluids that
- offer less performance.
- DO NOT MIX with mineral (LHM) or
- silicone base (DOT 5 silicone base) products.
