Default b/c the transmission fluid is thicker when it's cold

and doesn't lubricate as well.

Default when you're in neutral, are you on the clutch too?

If so, that's why, the flywheel/input shaft is spinning down to a stop. Just let the clutch up while you're coasting, that will keep it spinning.

Lots of interesting analysis here. No matter what the cause is, this is not a problem to ignore and simply chalk up as an idiosyncracy of the design. The '04 S4 that I purchased on Dec. 21, 2003, is in the shop with the transmission out after 583 mi. of pampered driving. I had to muscle it into 1st and 2nd and the chief tech. also noticed that the car would roll forward under its own power even with the clutch completely floored.

When they tore the parts out they found funny wear marks and what appeared to be gouges (possibly manufacturing defects, I don't know what parts these are on) that completely baffled them (and still do). Also, the plate springs are not applying the necessary tension and seem to be defective. I can tell you that the service dept. refused to do anything short of ordering an entire clutch subsystem replacement.

AoA called me today supposedly to work out some compensation (stay tuned). From my scan of the postings in this database, as well as the manner in which the dealership was rapidly pushed out of the discussion (according to my service rep at the dealer, just placing the parts order generated a flag at AoA: AoA told the dealer that they would deal with the customer directly on this one, offering no explanation to the service dept. who is now anxious for me to update them), I think Audi knows very well there's a tranny design/manufacturing issue with these S4-specific parts that goes beyond the "reverse" TSB.

Default audi tt mk2 8j 2.0 tfsi 1st gear issue

Hello in 2017

My tt gearbox has started behaving odd.
It was fine until few weeks ago i’ve noticed that on the traffic light when i have to move the car forvard it wont go easy into 1st gear. Even im pretty young i know the trick and tried from 2nd to 1st gear and then i have noticed that the 2nd gear is a bit harder too but the 1st was ok then. So the next thing i did on the next red traffic light was ,after stopping and hitting neutral, to switch into any of the 6 gears. Ive noticed that each one of them is harder but only after one clutch press and engaging only one gear and on keeping clutch engaged the others were fine. Just after releasing clutch again and going from neutral to any gear again the problem continues. So now im confused is it a clutch issue or synchro because all gears are harder on the first clutch press individualy (or is it somehing else).
Any advice?

Thanks.
