Any tips and or instructions for Milltek Downpipe install, looks mighty difficult?
|
Mighty Time Consuming
With a lift it's probably a six to seven hour job that requires dropping the back of the engine/tranny subframe to get access to the downpipe bolts. It's extremely tight!
I paid for an Audi aftermarket tuner to do the job and after talking with the guys it was money well spent. |
Jesus, I am going to be a nervous wreck having someone wrench on my new S4.
|
nah.... its not that hard.....
could be done in 3 hours provided you have the right tools and no problems with the DP's. Make sure the flanges on the dps are very loose before trying to install. Also remove the o2's in the engine bay instead of trying to use an o2 wrench and pull the DP's out with the O2s in. YOU DO NOT NEED TO LOWER THE TRANNY ON A MANUAL CAR!!!! Only the Tip nees that done.

well I have a tip, is that going to add chaos?
|
It might. But I'd pay for someone to do it right.
Got a good relationship with your service tech? Might be worth it to ask him if he can do a little "side" work. But that's a sketchy business.
Otherwise, I'd take no chances with the dealer and have a qualified aftermarket tuner do the work for you. Where are you located? |
Agreed....
You need to lower the Tranny as well as other things. Not an easy ordeal.

Tip takes more time
My earlier note indicated six to seven hours, but that also included installation of the cats as well (about an hour).
If you order DP's make sure you indicate a tip because they are slightly different shape to clear a wider transmission. |
