Bilstein PSS9 + RS4 steering wheel + Momo Tiptronic shifter installed (pics inside)

After a little shaky start, I was finally able to install these goodies on my 2004 S4.

I would like to thank Eric at SPP for the tipmod and the momo shifter.

Terry at Griffin Motorwerke in Berkeley for the PSS9s and the free steering wheel install. Great guy!

Greg (400HPA4 on audizine) for the RS4 steering wheel and the awesome customer service. I would do business with him again!

The shift knob was an easy install it took about 20 minutes. It complements the interior soooo much by getting rid of our fugly tiptronic shifter. Almost looks like the RS4 one.
The RS4 steering wheel was very easy to install just remove the old steering wheel with a Torx and a serrated 12mm wrench (maybe 10mm) and install the new one. My airbag is not working as I have yet to find a solution to connecting the yellow connector to the base of the steering column (different connector than the one we have on our three spoke wheels).

Right now I have them set at about 25'' from the floor to the fender. I have to say that I am in awe by the performance of the Bilstein COs. They aren't as harsh as the stock shocks and the car handles as though it were on rails. I have taken some turns with speeds I wouldn't have even thought about with the stock supension setup. I have the damping set at 8 all around (9 being the softest). At this setting the ride is extremely comfortable and I live in San Francisco where the streets are crap!
Imagine how it would perform at the stiffest setting. Very satisfied and cannot recommend the PSS9s enough.

One last artistic pic. Enjoy

Where did you buy the rs4 steering wheel ?

Sia Bani 04-13-2006 01:42 PM

Nice pics and your car looks hot.

Haw1144 04-13-2006 01:45 PM

H0T! Tho I'm surprised you can roll around SF everyday on 25"

I was around 25" and it rubbed on dips/bumps here in the south bay. Raised it about half an inch and everything is fine.

ruknd 04-13-2006 01:47 PM

excellent! get ahold of Ed with the imola B7S4 I know he did the steering wheel conversion and may

have an answer for you re the airbag.

Nice. Love the steering wheel. what wheels are those?

AUDIVDT 04-13-2006 01:52 PM

Do all the buttons on the steering wheel work?

Anything "special" that needs to be done?

Karrera4 04-13-2006 01:52 PM

that wheel is awesome...would you mind telling us where you ordered it from?

turbo boost 04-13-2006 01:53 PM

Not a problem so far. As for the wheels they're ASA AR1s. Thanks Sia.

turbo boost 04-13-2006 01:53 PM

I just need to find a way to change the connector so that the buttons can be funcional.

40valver 04-13-2006 02:19 PM

sweeet...

Car Crazy 04-13-2006 02:23 PM

Looks like a 19" ASA AR1 from Tire Rack

Car Crazy 04-13-2006 02:25 PM

Please say where you got the steering wheel and the cost associated. Do they have one that can utilize the radio controls? :)

Thanks,

Aidan's Daddy 04-13-2006 02:37 PM

Very very nice! Only a couple of suggestions...

1) Let us know how it is w/ the new shift knob. Don't you have to lift it up since there's no trigger, right?

2) Find a solution to connect the airbag soon. Don't wanna be w/o that.

I didn't even know Bilstein had COs. My wife has their shocks. And I find it amazing that they aren't as stiff as the stock shocks, too.

Anyway, congrats!

daveak05 04-13-2006 02:48 PM

ALL looking very nice!

Chan 04-13-2006 03:05 PM

Everytime I click on any of your posts I end up staring at Stacy Keibler's ass for atleast 5 minutes

turbo boost 04-13-2006 03:38 PM

you do have to lift the shifter up but it is just as easy as pressing the button on the stock one.

As for the airbag, I know, I need to find a solution quick.

Karrera4 04-13-2006 05:18 PM

I meant the RS4 steering wheel.

Car Crazy 04-13-2006 05:25 PM

he he - nevermind ;-)

turbo boost 04-13-2006 05:49 PM

Got the steering wheel from Greg, goes by the name of 400hpa4 on audizine.com

Rad-doc RS6 04-13-2006 06:12 PM

SWEET! I am also enamored with the PSS9 system for the same reasons

its_nero 04-13-2006 08:18 PM

beeaauutiful S4. what is the offset of the wheels you are running?

Jet Jockey/A4 Pilot 04-13-2006 11:10 PM

Yeah, Greg is the man for parts. I highly recommend him.

bpp 04-14-2006 02:15 AM

FINE LOOKING b6. Everything "looks right". Steering wheel'll be a big 'got-to-get-one-of these'...

Wheels look perfect too. You did good. : ) You find the "skinnies" on the airbag hook-up post it by all means.

bpp 04-14-2006 03:36 AM

I think I "need" one of these steering wheels. ;-)

Brooklyn 04-14-2006 04:44 AM

And if you find out how to get the airbag working, let us know

as I would love to swap mine out for the RS4. Looks really good.

kgorman 04-14-2006 12:38 PM

its amazing how much better this car looks lowered! Nice ride.

Aidan's Daddy 04-14-2006 03:14 PM
