Default Car Wouldnt Start. Help

Hello all, ive read that this is a common problem but since ihave to go to the dealership tuesday for them to fix a blown speaker, im trying to get this done too. The problem seems that the dealership doesnt want to replace the starter the first time you go is the problem.

A few times in the past months my car wouldnt start with the "power" it usually has. In other words on the instead of starting up as fast as it usually does when i turn the key in, it took longer and it seemed to not start as strongly.

yesturday after going to my shop to put on my snows, i started up left fine and stopped at a friends house for 5 minutes. turned off the car went inside, came back car would start. "no crank" cant hear the fuel pump nothing. However all the lights went on. Tried 10-15 times. Once i figured i had to get it towed i called audi roadside. While on the phone with them i turned the key and the car turned on. Sounded powerful and everything. So i have no idea.

To me it sounds like a problem with the starter. For all those who had this problem, what did you say to finally get these techs to finally fix it?

thank in advance for the help

Default If you're in SE PA we can run vag com on it.

Thats the only easy was to tell whats going on. If nothing comes up we have to start checking various components. My guess is its electrical so vag com should be able to pull something up.

Good luck with your dealer but it's likely you will be stranded somewhere before they do anything about it. If you can, leave it with them until they can reproduce it.

I would check the battery first. They can die without warning.

Default Had same thing....

Techs said it was a bad cell in the battery.
I didnt believe them because one minute started fine, then next time nothing, even though interior lights went on okay.
Turns out they were right. They replaced the battery and all was fine. It was not the starter as I had thought.
