Crosspost- I've STFA and need help with a diagnosis...
Background: 2001 2.7T / 6spd. MT , 75000 mi.
When cruising at higher RPM ..approx 3000, I begin to feel a misfire (or hesitation) for lack of a better description. If I press on the throttle it disappears... I can only feel it when it is maintaning speed under a light load when feathering the throttle.
I have had the check engine light indicate before this latest adventure but disapper after 3 restarts. The car never had any of the above hiccups.
The dealer VAG'd it and pulled codes for faulty O2 sensors and the rear exhaust gas temp. sensors.
They had their "best technician" on this job and his cure is to replace the front O2 sensors for $700 and the rear EGT sensors for $600.
Looking thru the archives I get some sense that a misfire / hesitation / hiccup can be caused by these sensors being faulty.
My question: has anyone had any similar symptoms or can anyone verify the cause is probably these sensors?
Many thanks for your input.

I don't have direct experience, but they should be able to deternmine which of the two it is(o2 sensors or rear exhaust sensors). There is no reason you should have to pay to have both replaced when it is likely one or the other....and, on top of that, probably just one went out, not both 02's or both EGT's. I would tell them to nail down their diagnosis so you're not paying $600 more. JMHO.

Also,,,
I assume you're aware of the extended emissions warranty on any car sold in the U.S. Fed and Calif(which goes beyond the fed). I believe, for all cars, it's 7 years/70,000 miles, something like that.
Both of the items you describe would fall under that category, emissions systems. As long as there is no reg maint replacement interval stated for the o2 sensor and EGT sensor, they should have to eat any repair costs.
Might want to check into it....first your warranty booklet, and then contact the dealer after you're armed with needed info. Hope this helps.
