Got my Audiopilot taken out today and Bose sounds 100% better.

My dealer was really nice about it. They knew what the problem was and didn't hassle me at all.

Also replaced my fuel pump.

I can enjoy my RNS-E so much more now, you can actually hear the bass now.

A big must!

Thanks. Will ask my dealer to remove audiopilot on my 5k service

The audio volume fluctuate too much especially after I got my milltek non-res catback. The bass is very very low when listening to XM radio. FM and CD sounds fine. Hopefully removing the audiopilot will solve these issues.

What was wrong w/ your fuel pump? noises?

I'm hearing tapping noises in the front and back when starting my car.

I am new to some of this, my dad has a B6 S4. Can you please elaborate on what all of this means. I know that I was disapointed with the Bose sound in his, my B7 A4 regular stereo sounds better I think. any elaboration would be greatly appreciated.

ahh...may I ask what is "Audiopilot"?

Blau Flash 01-13-2006 01:00 PM

Audiopilot is....

A microphone inside the vehicle constantly monitors the overall sound level inside the car, including both music and unwanted noise. Bose digital electronics then separate music from the noise, continuously modifying the music signal.

This causes extreme volume fluctuations, whereas the bass is the main victim. Sometimes the Bose sounds like it has no bass at all.

For those who have exhausts this problem gets worse because audiopilot kicks in to compensate for the resonations inside the car.

There is a TSB for this, althout not every dealer is as easy about doing this as mine was.
Some ignore the issue.

Here's the TSB

Re: Audiopilot is....

that funny because i don't recognize any of that stuff from mine. do the audipilots come with every vehicle? or are they turned on/off somehow.

there was a point where the volume would increase as the speed did. but it doesn't do that any longer for reason too. hmmm.

Blau Flash 01-13-2006 01:33 PM

they come from the factory with audiopilot. If you dont play bassy music, then you prolly wont

notice....

its_nero 01-13-2006 01:47 PM

well that's just the thing...i do play bassy music.....

but if it's the only thing i've heard since i've had the vehicle, then what would i know if it doesn't sound right. i have no other reference...damn.
