HELP!!!! Where are is the key for the WHEEL LOCKS located?
I am at the tire place who is going to put on the winter wheels+tires I ordered from Hartmann, but we can't find the damn key for the wheel locks that were put on by the dealership.
Sorry for not searching, but I am in a bind and using their work PC here at the shop. TIA |
Wheels locks are not a standard feature of this car.
If you paid extra for them and the dealer put them on, it could be anywhere. Or more likely, the dealer never gave you the key!
|
Yeah, I knew they were optional, but wondered if there was a std spot in the tire change kit for it.
|
I noticed that my dealer had used wheel locks...
when I came to change a tyre. They left the original bolts plus the key in with the spare tyre...I am guessing that you checked there.
|
Checked all the obvious places, but was worried there was some "hidden" compartment/spot.

Re: HELP!!!! Where are is the key for the WHEEL LOCKS located?
The wheel locks are not standard equiptment, but the dealership should have the gadget to help you get your wheels off. BTW, does the lug nut have a slit for a key to fit in or is it just a different groove than the other ones on the wheel. My wheel lock is not a key but a metal bit that fits into the lug nut when you remove the wheel.

The thing that really pisses me off...
...is that I asked about them when picking the car up and they said it was in the tire change kit. Just my luck we spent an hour going over the car and never checked for the key. (damn) Even though this is my 4th audi and I was coming out of an '03 A4 they still made me go through the delivery boot camp!
If I was stuck on the side of the road in the rain or snow with a flat tire I'd be ready to drive this car (with the flat) through the dealer's front window if I found out they forgot to give me the key for the $80 wheel locks! |
Looks like the key fits inside the lug wrench
|
That sucks, mine was handed to me at delivery, did you find it yet?
|
Re: Looks like the key fits inside the lug wrench
Your wheel locks are probably from a company named McGard. You have to call the dealer where you purchased your car.
