How hard do you drive... or can drive the S4?

I am off on a long trip tomorrow, parts of it will be RT-33 through Va and Wva.....great road through the mountains. Last time I took my Mugen modded RSX-S....stuck like glue...but asked alot of a 4 cylinder to go up the steep grades. Never missed a beat as I had it wound into 8K rpm + vtec alot, and I mean alot.

Its going to be interesting to see how the S4 does. So, can you keep it near redline for some time and not have it piss coolant, overheat, or have problems. I know that with the torque, I don't HAVE to keep it wound up.

So in these types of roads, short shift, keep rpm's at a certain level? I have a RC-51 V-twin motorbike that also has lots of torque, does not rev high (for a bike)and I have no issues keeping up with I-4's. But I'm not used to that power band in a car.

Its got new brakes, as most CPO's have. How are OEM brakes on a twisty road? Fading or overheating issues? Will I warp discs if I push too hard?

Okay I'm done now...

Mechanicals are as bulletproof as any.

Just by driving the car you probably already know that it really comes on at about 3500 (near the torque peak) and goes all the way to near 7k. Keep it in this range on the mountain roads and you'll have a lot of fun. If you're not terribly familiar with the car use this opportunity to learn what gear it wants to be in depending on your intentions.

Have fun and don't worry about the car taking the workout.

When I'm at the track, I'm out there for 20-25 minutes of 4K-7200K non stop 4-5 times a day

And I still run stock brakes, but with upgraded pads and fluid.

I just hit 70K miles and no issues.

You won't have any problems keeping it in the upper RPM range for extended periods...

I drive mine consistantly between 3-6K RPM. You just won't be able to do this in 5th or 6th gear as I do. 5K RPM 6th gear and you are over 120 MPH.

20 mins of 100%?? What pads do you have? I went through 2 stock sets in 2 hpde's with 600' fluid.

Re: Mechanicals are as bulletproof as any.

I had alot of fun and I am learning the car. I drove it very hard and no problems. But I can see some ohlins on the future and new sway bars. I want neutral to a bit oversteering. I found it's best to go hard into the turns, brake hard then power out. With the tax it was best to carry corner speed. If you lost speed then the small engine would have a hard time getting back to speed.
