I think it is fair to say that we are seeing 4-5 common groupings of problems with the B6 S4 now...

Default I think it is fair to say that we are seeing 4-5 common groupings of problems with the B6 S4 now...

1. Broken Valve Springs/Dropped Valves lead to varying degrees of internal engine damage (not sure if we REALLY know this is the case/cause, but it's the best explanation we've got to work with assuming any kind of commonality to various engine failures).

2. Misaligned/Defective Clutches/Pressure Plates.

3. Internal 6 Speed Manual Transmission Failures (as yet entirely undefined).

4. Electronic Throttle Bugs.

5. Failed Front Crankshaft Seals (seen this on a couple of cars now, any more details?)

Thoughts?

Default Reverse problem insight.....

I was at the dealer tonight to pick up my B6
S4 for a blown front oil seal and a busted
climate control. However, the first problem
I had with the B6 was the "no reverse" defect
at 150 miles. I was told that Audi has narrowed
this problem down to a bushing in the shifter
linkage and that repairs for this problem are
now a 1 day issue. Hell! they removed the whole gearbox in my car. Also, some sort of upgrade to the cooling system was performed. I'm sorry if this is vague but I'll be getting the paperwork tomorrow and will post again. Have a great evening!

My thoughts - Until the list grows in number and begins to take shape this topic is going nowhere.

Default Ummm, my transmission is being replaced, is expected 11-20...

and they said that Audi identified the problem as something wrong with the case, which I find kinda wierd, but there it is.

Default Yes I know, Audi has ordered all dealers to RR the tranny and....

send it back to Germany for evaluation.
Soon they will start implementing the
bushing fix. That's what I was told.

Default Interesting as the tech-line person indicated today that its a transmission problem not a linkage

but a transmission and no rebuild kits available so they order new transmissions
