Just curious why these two things would be related?
I took my car in for a CEL and the ESP light was staying on constantly.
They both popped up at the exact same time. One of the codes was:
Address 01: Engine Labels: None
Part No SW: 8E0 910 560 G HW: 8E0 907 560
Component: 4.2L V8/5V G 0010
Coding: 0007711
Shop #: WSC 12593
1 Fault Found:
16485 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Implausible Signal
P0101 - 004 - No Signal/Communication - MIL ON
Readiness: 0000 0000
Which I'm sure it was a bad MAF.
------------------------------------------------
The next code was:
Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 8E0-614-517.LBL
Part No: 8E0 614 517 Q
Component: ABS/ESP allrad 4533
Coding: 04595
Shop #: WSC 12345
1 Fault Found:
18265 - Load Signal: Error Message from ECU
P1857 - 35-00 - -
------------------------------------------------
The dealer called and said the bad MAF was causing both the lights to be on. How are these things related? Am I missing something here or are they just blaming the problem on one another?

No they are correct, a bad MAF will give you the ESP light. I am not 100% sure as to how the two...
complement each other but some how the ESP system takes inputs from the MAF sensor to do its thing.
No MAF means no ESP apparently.
