I've searched and found several posts outlining the methods to reprogram a key fob, though none of the methods have worked.

My primary key fob slowly lost range and effectiveness, until not working at all. The red light still worked. I've replaced the battery, also followed the reprogramming steps outlined in the manual (press unlock, put in ignition to #2, remove, press unlock). No luck. There are a range of other methods posted, and the ones I've tried are no good. My second key works fine.

Does anyone have a verified method for a 2006 S4?

Only reprogramming I've done has been putting the key into the ignition, turning to on position, pressing lock and unlock and Pulling The key out. Has worked every time for me. You may have a bad fob tho..
