Looking @ 2004 Silver S4
Hello friends - thinking about coming back to the fold, seriously looking at a 2004 S4.
Previoiusly owned a 2002 A4 3.0 Quattro, but wandered off into the Mercedes (CLK55) and Porsche world (Boxster S) for a few years.
Work requirements and 2 kids requires a sedan with a decent size back seat... the S4 seems to have the sport nature I'm looking for. Other cars I'm considering are BMW 545i or possibly a new/lightly used BMW 335i sedan (seems like alot of you are defecting to the new 335 from what I've read here lately!)
The Audi I'm considering is Silver on Black, a Michigan car, just over 35,000 miles, appears to be fully loaded except no alcantara and no 'multifunction steering wheel' (a good thing IMHO - man that thing is ugly.) There is damage to the wheels (clearcoat and finish) I assume is from the Michigan salt. Car appears clean otherwise.
I am offering $29,000 and am requring that they fix the finish / clearcoat on the rims. The car is under the original warranty through early next year, and the dealer is offering CPO for a couple of years beyond. Does this sound like a good deal?
Other questions:
What kind of real-world gas milage are you getting? I mostly do highway driving, curious what your experience is.
I foresee owning this beyond the CPO term - have any of you had work done outside of warranty? I'm assuming it would be expensive...
Without a turbo to chip (like the 335i), are there many easy ways to increase engine power in this thing? I was spoiled by the CLK55 with 375 lb-ft of torque!
Thanks,
Lance
