Opinions on Shocks/Rotors/Pads for '04 S4.
Hi Everyone,
My '04 S4 is in need of some service. The brake light just popped on and the deep ridge around my rotors indicate that I'll need rotors too. Also, I'm putting a lot of highway miles on and noticing the car becomes a little unsettled at speed over bumps and cracks, so I guess after 100,000 mi the shocks are ready for a change as well. Any thoughts on what parts to use? Is buying dealer parts the best bet or is there aftermarket stuff that is as good or better?
For rotors,
I was thinking of going with Brembo UV coated. I'm assuming that Brembo keeps an eye on quality for everything with their name on it. I'm also looking at Zimmerman coated, but the Brembo's seem like they can be had for half the price.
For Pads,
I've seen the name Hawk mentioned numerous times. Was looking at their luxury "ceramic" series. I like a pad with pretty quick, but not jerky, initial bite.
For shocks,
I was thinking Koni. My friend who is a mechanic (specializes in classic domestic cars) always considers Koni the best of the best. He also said you can't go wrong with Bilstein either. I am definitely don't want anything more harsh than factory. (Pennsylvania roads, if you can call them roads, are a joke.)
Just wanted to see if anybody had any experiences good or bad. As always, I appreciate the input.
Thanks.
