Pics of my new H&R Coilover install on my S4 Cab. (And SS brake lines)

Had my new H&R coilover kit installed today and new SS brake lines. (All the pics in the link are from my camera phone, will take better pics later.)

When stock the ride height was 26.25" in the front and 26" in the rear. After the coilover install they are at 24.5" at all four corners. this is set at the middle setting. I can raise it about 1" or lower it another 0.75".

Overall I am very happy with the result. The car looks great and handleing is a world of difference. Higher speeds are much smoother and the car handles like it is on rails (even better then before.)

The ride is a little rougher but that is what you would expect.

Overall I am very happy with it so far.

Oh.. and found out that it is possible to drop a S4 cab so low that you will have trouble to do an alignment. We had to take the belly pan off the car. The problem was that parts of the alignment machine that are on each wheel need to have a line of sight with each other via laser for calibration. Well the car is so low now that we had to take off the belly pan and play with the way the machine was setup in order to make sure they could see each other :)

Link to my coilover pics :)

The 18s look massive with the drop. HwyQwr and Ben, you are definitely right about

not worrying about going with the 18s. When I'm ready to get wheels (black centers, polished lip with a sweet offset in the rears to make it look staggered), I will go aftermarket suspension at the same time and that way 18s will look perfect.

I can't justify spending so much and losing functionality, ie power to the ground, handling, etc with the 19s. By then, maybe a s/c would be available (haha!) so I may not care and just go 19s...haha

I digress. Congrats David. It looks sweet, and I can only imagine how well it handles.

Thanks.. and I might be going with 20's.. :) It handles GREAT. It is amazing how much better it is

High speeds are so much smoother. And the car is much more stable.

The ride is a little rougher and have to watch out more for potholes, however the added handleing is worth it. I highly recomend the H&R kit to anyone who wants to have a better handleing and looking S4 :)

The stocks actually look good on this car with the drop. However still looking at getting new rims, we will see what I go with :)

Thanks :)

(Let's just say I have a really good story about testing it an hour ago, but its not suitable for audiworld :)

I think H & R is too low imo

I am waiting for Tein solution to come out for our car. That and adding a blower when that comes out will be my final mods to the car.

Not to low at all. Stock is 26.25F/26R. H&R at mid setting is 24.5F/R. Can set to 25.25F/R....

Not going to get much less of a drop then that :)

It looks fantastic. Fits the car and wheels very well, without looking "slammed".

In person it is even better. I was worried how it would look with the stock rims (as most coilovers/stock rim setups do not look good imo). However this setup actually ends up working.

(Although will be getting 19"s or 20"s :)

ride height is adjustable?

DavidRS4 04-21-2005 02:31 AM

Yes, thats the major advantage to coilovers :)
