Hoping for some advice.

I sold my last S4 in 2005 (a 2000 S4) and have been wanting an S4 Avant ever since. I've stayed away because of the chain tensioner issues and the rediculous prices those cars have commanded on the used car market. But now I find myself looking at buying one and hoping for some pragmatic feedback from you all: It's a 2008 S4 Avant manual; 80k miles. $17k. Car is in good shape and has service and maintenance records. Getting a detailed pre-purchase inspection.

Ultimately, my question is: assuming everything else on the car is in good shape, am I buying in at too high a price given the potential of a chain tensioner fix in the future and my ability to re-sell that car (if I decide to bail on it)? If I decided to sell in a year, will I ever get anything close to $17k? I realize the asking prices on these cars are sky high, but it seems that many of them remain listed for months at those prices.
