snow chains are mandotory in French Alps
Hi all Need some advice
I'm heading over to Tignes In French Alpe.s like I do every year but last year I took the Audi S4 B6 4.2 v8 a very good mile muncher but the police stop me on the mountain roads and would not let me travel any farther with out chains on( on all driving wheels) as said to the them politely I don't need them I have tyres marked M-S and 4 wheel drive and I was not slipping any ware
I'm taking the Audi this year Again but ive bought a pair of snow chains and tried to test fit them they wont fit on the front the hit everything when I span the wheel by hand there like no clearance at the front at all
back a defiant story they fit on wheel will spin with out hitting anything so I spoke to audi about what it said in the manual In Big Black Lttter "DONT USE SNOW CHAINS" AND THEY SAID THE SAME JUST GET SNOW TYRES and would not speak to me about snow chains basically fob me off but in the alps the are mandatory
so the advice I need is will they work one the back of my Audi if there enough clearance and if I got chains on I would be driving slowly less then 30mph
