I was driving home on saturday night and was doing 120-130 on the freeway and started smelling somthing burning from the engine bay.

At first i thought it was from the car in front of me but as i past him and for several minutes later the smell was there.

I go home and start smelling the tires to see if that was the problem, but no.

I opened the hood and it seemed the smell was coming from the area between the airbox and the engine. I think it smelled like oil was burning. After that, on normal driving, no smell came

Has this happened to anyone else. Should i be concerned. Inputs please.

while I was driving at 90-100 for a lengthy time in very hot weather. It was oil, but Audi never could find the source and it hasn't happened since then. Oil light came on, and I topped it off. Been running fine ever since.

Then you shouldnt cook under the hood!

it coulde have ben the car you passed and your filter was retaining some smell
