Default Thinking of purchasing 2007 S4

Hey all. I'm looking at an Audi S4 with 91,450 miles. I love Audi's, love driving. I'm willing to maintain and take care of this car but want to know if I'm getting into trouble. What have been your experiences with maintenance at 91k+ miles.

Any advice would be incredibly helpful, thanks!

I was about where you are a year ago, interested in the cars - as many performance minded enthusiasts are - but yet unacquainted. Had an R8 for about 2 years, loved the quality (my first Audi) and was looking for a driver.

I realize this is age-old advice, but searching this forum will be seriously helpful. You'll find all the paranoia you want about timing chains (legit concern) yet far, far more glowing owner experiences that outweigh.

At that mileage, your concerns to handle in the pre purchase are primarily:

General service history
Timing chain
Power Steering hoses, rack

That's at least a start. My car had a solid history ('05 S4 Avant, 6 speed) and a recent full timing chain service, which abated about 90% of my concerns. I ended up doing the Power Steering, CV joints post purchase.

I've had a few performance cars, and I can tell you that my experience has been full smiles, serious fun, outstanding utility and a flair of uniqueness that keeps others guessing. One ride and they'll know.

Hope this helps.

I love my b7 s4, but to be honest, buy a more reliable car. 91k... perfect time for timing issues. I bought my car with 92k and started having chain rattle at 100k. Just opened my timing covers last week and I have the typical broken lower left guide. I also discovered destroyed motor mounts along with a slew of other stuff. If you have deep pockets and can turn a wrench, feel free. But of you'd rather enjoy driving your car, buy something else. Just my .02
I paid 13k for mine and have dumped 6k into it in the last year. Yay
