Default V.60 phone options?

What can you all tell me about Motorola's phone options and compatibility with the Audi built-in wiring? The options sheet says that it's compatible with the V.60 phone. Anyone know if any of the other phones are compatible w/ V.60 accessories?

Do any current Audi models connect to these phones? Does anyone use anything *other* than a V.60/ successfully?

Default The last round of v.60 phone compatability also required that you get the Audi version of a v.60

as well. It did not work with preexisting v.60 phones or generic off the shelf versions (like mine)......

Default Hmm... I don't recall any mention in the option guide

of needing to buy the phone from Audi.

Default This might be good news...

Motorola makes this "desktop hands free" device - it has a full connector, and works with a whole list of their phones:

<a href="http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=242491&prmenbr=126&accessor ies_cgrfnbr=22&zipcode=&phoneID=&search_string=238 320,24,29,25,26,27,28&type=249091">Desktop Speakerphone
98422 / SPN5028</a>

If it's true that this time around the phones aren't Audi specific, then maybe all these phones will work in this car:

Motorola T720 (GSM only), V70, Motorola 120t, Motorola C331 and C332 (TDMA only), V60i, V. SeriesTM 60t, V. SeriesTM 60g, V66 and TimeportTM 280 phones.

Default There were several threads on this in the S4 forum when the option first came out.

Audi did some special coding of the software in the phone and a generic v60 would not work. Check with your dealer - they are the ones who pointed this out to begin with.

Default And now bad news...

This is an excerpt from the detailed Audi equipment guide that somebody posted a few weeks ago:

<i>Audi Motorola hands-free digital telephone</i> (dealer installed) (can be ordered only w/ Audi telematics). This Motorola V.60 phone can be controlled by on-board voice recognition, and includes the following features:

(abbreviating)
* cradle in armrest
* concealed mic, antenna, spkr
* WAP browser
* voice recognition
* display/mem/SMS/rings, xxx battery life.

This sounds like it's an Audi-only phone. And since it has a browser, that *probably* means it's a GSM phone, which means it can only work with T-Mobile, Cingular, or possibly AT&amp;T's "next gen" network, although they don't support any V.60 series phones yet (though technically they should work).

Default From a former Audi Dealer

There are currently two phones supported. I did this for several customers. A Nokia which blows and the Motorola V.60, which I have. Yes, you have to buy the phone from Audi. You can't plug your T-Mobile GSM V.60 into an Audi and have it work. (I tried)

Bad news begins here... Audi charges either $399, or $499 for the phone that you can get for $99 at the stores. What do you get? An Audi logo on startup and voice control through the car as well as satellite phone through telematics. May be worth it for some.

Also, all Audis can be retrofitted for hands free phone access. Some dealers will tell you they can't, but they can; they're just not aware of it. Again, expensive.

Parts department at your local Audi store will have the hands free phone brochure which tells you which Nokia works. As for future compatibility of other phone... I never heard anything like that, but could be.
