Wheel bearing shot?

Wheel bearing shot?
I've had this problem on a 2004 S4 Avant since I got it about a year ago. Once the suspension warms up a bit (driving for 20 minutes), it sounds like there is this intermittent metallic groaning coming from the front driver's side. It was a lot worse when I first got the car, and the garage replaced a tie rod end. It's still there, but every time I take the car in, the garage says they can't hear anything. It's pretty obvious to me. I've even taken a drive with a tech in the car, and he claimed he couldn't hear anything.
I can feel the friction when the groan is there slowing down the car and pulling it to the left. I'm tempted to take it to a garage and say replace the wheel bearing please to see if that's the issue. I suspect that the techs aren't driving the car to try and find the issue and just jacking it up and letting the wheels go for a while. I specifically asked them to look at the wheel bearing before, and they said it checks out fine.
So... any advice here? Thanks!
