Default WTF? Market adjustment?

I just went by my local dealer (there's only one in Richmond, VA) and EVERY car on the lot had a "market adjustment" sticker added to MSRP to the tune of $1,495. This was on 2006s! What the hell could my dealer be thinking?

"Yeah, if we jack up the price, these 06's are SURE to move, right Hank?"

Just when it seemed like the dealer was beginning to "get it", this happens. I wonder what AoA would think about this. It actually pissed me off, and I'm not even in the market to buy. Liked the Q7 though.

Default Not buying, so don't care. Its the general public that they SHOULD want to attract that worries me.

I want to see Audi succeed, and this aint the best way for this dealer to contribute.

Default I thought that Audi had a policy against additional dealer mark up?

Find a different dealer.

I already did when I bought my last car. This dealer is driving away potential first-timers though.

Default I have seen it at various dealerships from time to time.

When pressed, they almost always immediately drop to MSRP and continue to negotiate below MSRP. I think they just throw it out there and if 1 in 10 customers pay it without balking the dealers comes out ahead. Also they can easily give you $1,495 "off" the price. It amazes me how uninformed many consumers are and how a few unscrupulous rush to take advantage of them.

Default It's probably coming down from AOA. Not the dealer...

More than likely it's to help offset the currency difference between the weak dollar and the Euro.

Default Saw it at Lexus too...

I lived in Midlothian from '92-'96 and saw something like that at the Lexus dealer on Midlo Turnpike. I figure they thought I was bluffing when I told them I was going to buy the identical '93 ES300 (not exactly a rare car!)in Alexandria. I actually called them from the lot in Alexandria and told the salesman the deal I had, and that he could match it or forget about it. Needless to say I drove home in my shiny new car from No. Virginia. I guess dealers in Richmond march to their own beat, but I'm sure it goes on in a lot of places.
