So technically if the pricing came out for the 2013 MY in April 2012, and I could order the car maybe 3 months after that then it is only a 1.8 year wait from now. I'm a tech geek and I really really like the Google interface and new MMI interface. Oh man, I got to keep saying to myself delayed gratification....delayed gratification.....I watched some of the 2011 Audi CES videos for the A8 and MMI interface. The MMI looks awesome!

With the pricing of gas continuing to increase and the stringent emissions standards for CO2, turbo 4/5 cylinders will have to take the place of more expensive 6 and 8 cylinders for entry level lux. As the saying goes, "Get it now before they are gone forever! (V6, 8, 10, 12..etc)

I wouldn't have minded a 5-cylinder turbo at all...

The Audi 5 cyl turbo is tranverse mounted though, so won't work in our cars.

I think smaller FI engines is the future for the most part due to Carbon Emissions. Years ago (before the 3.2 engine was removed from the first B8 A5's) Audi built a test A5 with their aluminum space frame tech, and put the stock 2.0T in it, then ran some comparison to a stock 3.2 A5. The 2.0T version was about 500+ lbs lighter and DETUNED to match the performance the 3.2 put out and outperformed the 3.2 V6 easily.

Look at our S4 compared to the higher priced S5, which our car matches if not outperforms, or the MUCH higher priced RS5, which we also hang very well with - all with a significantly smaller displacement, but FI engine.

I wouldn't care about owning a 4 cylinder 2.0T equipped car so much if they fixed that wimpy sound. That engine sounds like it has a bad cold or flu or something!

Oh, there is an application tool for that;

Just need to add the high temp transducers to the exhaust system.

From the article on the 2.0T prototype:
"Sound Engineering: A speaker amplifies the engine to man things up"

Too funny. Hey, maybe future "exhaust" upgrades could be done with a VAG-COM.

I'd love to see an Al spaceframe S4/S5 with a 6 cyl FI engine. Lighter weight with a great engine? Yes please.

The new Quattro Coupe concept has the 5-cylinder longitudinally mounted on the RS5 frame, so it is possible.
