2013 S5 vs 2013 S4
With the S5 now getting the double clutch system and the same engine as the S4... the cars differ in price by 5,000$. Which one would be faster? why? Which one will have superior handling, etc? Or will they be the same?
thanks

I think the cars are even closer in price than that.
I'm told they should perform/handle very similarly, although I too am curious about any nuanced differences. May be too soon to tell though, as these cars have not arrived in the U.S., unless someone from Europe who has test driven the two can comment?

S5 is a bit lighter (about 60-70 lbs), BUT S4 has a better drag coefficient - 0.282 comparing to 0.306 of S5 with the same drag area. Proof link is here: http://www.carinf.com/en/53d0416683.html
So, looks like S5 is a bit quicker from the start and slower at higher speeds.
And this is strange

At least in canada... the 2013 S4 comes standard with navigation and Bang and Olfusen... this is a $3,200 package in the S5.. add in the base price difference and you have your $5k+.
I guess I'll just wait for the lease/finance rates to come out to make my decision... looks like they're going to be very similar performers.

The S4 has a full moonroof. The S5 has a fixed roof. It might have a vent or something but it's not a real sunroof.
The S4 will be slightly more stable at high speed because the trunk shape creates downforce. Unless you attach a nice big fixed rear wing on that S5

My neighbor has the S5...it has a full glass roof, but it only has a power tilt...opens about 1.5" at the back edge.

Is the headroom better in the S5 because of the roof difference? I'm 6'3" and find the S4 headroom a little lacking. I have the seat as low as it will go but like to sit up fairly straight. I'm not planning to switch but am curious about the S5.

I find that I barely use my sunroof in my current car - I usually only use the tilt. So yes, as you said, it is preference. I can live without a sunroof that opens all the way.

I changed my S4 order to an S5 order once I saw the pricing difference between the two was not much.
