Default Oil of choice

Hello All,

I'm looking to change my oil more frequently, which means I'll be doing it at home Just wondering what everyone's personal preference is. I live in Toronto.. so keep in mind the weather gets insanely hot and cold. I mainly do highway driving and tend to push the car

I've been pondering Lubro Moly Voll-Synthese 5w40. Any thoughts?

I use Mobil 1 Euro 0W-40 on my oil changes in between my Audicare changes. Comes in 5 qt jugs at walmart. Best oil for the money. If you plan to run really long intervals (10k-plus) i'd pay to have an oil change analysis done and perhaps look at something like Amsoil.

Thanks guys...
When I had to add a quart of oil before an oil change and told the dealer that I'd be adding Mobil 1 Euro 0W-40 he freaked and said no.. Told me to add anything else thats 5w40. Any ideas why? (I get 5w40 is what's in the owners manual)

Yeah, he's clueless.

FWIW, the Owner's Manual does call out "5W40" as the preferred oil, but anything with the 502.00 quality standard (and 504.00) meets the mfr's requirements. Period.

TO, as long as the LM 5W40 oil you're looking at meets 502.00, you're good to go. Yes, a 0W40 would have a slight benefit for residents of the Northwestern Territories.

The Mobil 1 0W40 enjoys widespread popularity here due to its avaialability and pricing, and it is the oil used by many dealerships.

Your dealer is a retard.

Since my oil cap has a big CASTROL badge on it, I just put in Castrol 5W40.

I'm also in the Toronto area. I was wondering, is it worth it for us to change formula in the winter and summer? The summers are super hot, and winters bone chilling!

Why? The Castrol product you mention is all-season/all-climate.

My question is how often do you want to change oil and why. Highway driving is not stressful to your engine. Owners who have sent their oil to Blackstone for analysis have received reports showing the oil still being protective above 7.5k miles. Since Audi will change your oil every 10K miles with Audicare, changing oil every 5k would still be overkill.
