Yes the cover is sturdy enough, it closes pretty tight, it has four large teeth that keeps it in place when closed and the weight of the amp is more towards the bottom of the cover, but I do not know if the space between the cover and the B&O amp is the same than the space there was on the amp of the non B&O of my car...

Total cost:

1. Raptor power cable ISPKBL4-4CH: 1 @ $19.99
2. Sony XM-1S: 1 @ $139.99
3. Pioneer TS-SW841D: 1 @ $84.99
4. Dynamat Xtreme Wedge Pak 10425: 2 @ $19.99
5. Dynamat 10007 Rubber Roller for Dynamat: 1 @ $17.99

Item total: $302.94
Shipping fee: $42.85
Canadian Brokerage, Duties and Taxes: $50.21

Total paid: $396.00 Canadian

I just wanted to say thanks to Brandonb and many others for the great info in this thread. I just did this upgrade with the 4 ohm version of the JL sub on my '11 prestige and love it! Much, much better sound (not that it was too shabby to begin with)!

Thanks!

Chris

Thanks for this thread from me as well. I have the Kicker 10C108 on it's way to me. I can't wait to swap it in!

You will need a spacer ring to use the Kicker 10C108 in the rear deck & three 2" long 8x32 screws & nuts. You will also need to trim the rear deck panel cover & speaker grille.

Several people posted a site that will custom make them for you. Read the thread. Or find someone with a router and spend $10 for some MDF from Home Depot.

I used a 1.5" thick spacer ring (9.125" inside, 10.125" outside) trimmed by 0.5" on one side, to float the 10" 8 ohm Kicker Comp sub mounting above the stock mounting holes. The stock hole is about 8.875" diameter and the Kicker needs 9.125" hole.

It looks like MAYBE, one could use a 1.25" thick spacer ring, but the size should really be 9.125" inside, 9.625" outside.

Custom Single Layer Speaker Ring, $15.99
<small> - Cutout Diameter 9 1/8"</small>
<small> - MDF 1 1/4"</small>
<small> - Outside Diameter 9 5/8"</small>

Stock mounting holes line up and used 2" long 8x32 screws to mount. The new sub works very nicely. Needed to trim the grille and rear deck cover for clearance. Wired to stock amp and reversed polarity from stock. I used lots of Dynamat in the rear deck and sealed all the holes. This install takes very little room in the trunk.

Check ebay for the ring. Easiest to go to local stereo installer.
