B8.5 fog light mod....

Ok I'm sure this will interest someone, for anyone who was trying to swap the yellow or hid fogs from your 2010+ to your 2013+ probably realized its not an exact fit into the housing and said "damn it" lol. Even though they look similar the older ones are H11 and the new ones are H8. So what's the difference? If you look at the picture the tabs that lock the bulb into place are slightly bigger on the H11s. So what I did was carefully break the edges on the longer tab with a needle nose plier and voila they fit into the housing. Harness and voltage are same so no problems there.

Do the numbers indicate heat? Why does this not feel like a good idea?

Maybe I'm way off though.

I hear ya, I checked that the H8s are 12V 35W and H11s are 12V 55W, cant imagine that would cause the fuse to blow, but I don't have them on for long periods of time anyways, unless someone knows for sure that it's not a good idea lol.

The 55W will throw a lot more heat than the 35W - it may melt the housings.

Whats the wattage on the H11 stock bulbs? Because I had those 55Ws on my 2012 and it was fine.

Unless they are aftermarket non standard wattage, the definition of an H11 is 55W and and H8 is 35W

So I'm thinking it's prob best not to use them, had a funny feeling about it..

It will for sure melt the housing and or at the very least cause the plastic lens to crazing on the plastic lens.
