We've updated our car reliability stats for the B8 S4 to include owner experiences through March 31, 2011.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2011 A4: 8, better than average
2011 S4: 50, about average
2010 A4: 38, about average
2010 S4: 68, about average
Repair frequencies for the S4 are being heavily affected by very common water pump failures.
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.
These statistics:
2010 S4: 44, 4
2010 A4: 76, 2
Audi A4 Lemon-odds and Nada-odds
We'll have further updates in August and November. The more owners participate, the better the information we can provide to everyone.

re: We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.
Excellent addition! Helps paint a more complete picture.
re: Repair frequencies for the S4 are being heavily affected by very common water pump failures.
I realize this would not be easy to do, but given that people are in part making future purchase judgments from this data, a "spot" problem due to a supplier defect (once it's proactively recalled and identified and fixed) shouldn't weigh on future purchase decisions.
So maybe an "unadjusted" repair frequency (includes raw data for everything) and an "adjusted" repair frequency which subtracts out problems that were isolated to a specific VIN range and will not (should not) affect future cars built after a certain date?
There needs to be some history that a spot problem happened, but it shouldn't weigh on the future once it's fixed/eliminated.
In any case, this is a great service you're providing and I wish more people would participate. It's quick and painless to sign up. I do think you should require an affirmative "no repairs" response each quarter (a clickable link in the emails?) because a lack of response doesn't necessarily mean no repairs, it could just mean the person didn't have time to document their repairs when they got the email and forgot to do it later...

We do require a response each quarter (an approximate odometer reading), even if there was no repair, for the very reason you state.
My current thinking is that a note concerning a very common problem is sufficient. If the manufacturer's development and testing processes let one such problem slip through, then they might have also missed others. If there is a single isolated problem then the repair frequency will improve each quarter as more recent months are factored in. After a year the old repairs won't affect the stats at all, though they'll still be visible in the repair histories.

I've been reporting to true delta for a while now. The site makes it very easy to report on multiple vehicles or change reporting if you change rides. Let's get more contributors!
