It's a wide open question...
I'd buy it for one or more of the following reasons:
The price is right
It was exactly what I'd pick if I was ordering it new
It has a well documented maintenance record
I had money/access to reduced parts and labor costs
It has a manual transmission OR the automatic has been serviced/replaced and same if sports dif equipped
The mileage shouldn't scare you away. Prolonged use of mechanical things will lead eventually lead to component failure(s) and a cost to correct it.
For the seller's asking price, what is the mileage/condition for other S4s you find?

I recently sold my pre S4 '98 A4 30 valve 5 speed stick (bought new and well maintained). My Indy mechanic bought it. (I declined selling it to others). Though it still ran well, and I loved the car, it became too needy. I no longer do-it-myself.
The S4 has a lot more electronics and 'stuff' that can fail. I wouldn't buy it except as a hobby or at least a 2nd/3d car.
Of course you pays your money and takes your chances...good luck.

I'm still daily driving my 2010 S4 with 135k miles. Standard wear items are starting to need replacement, but it's nowhere near a new car payment! How much was the car listed for? Did you get one or no?
