Default Care and feeding of Alu-Optik

I waxed the S4 for the first time today as well as lexol'd the interior, but I was wondering what you guys do for the Alu-Optik parts, if anything?

Adam's Detail Spray or Adam's Brilliant Glaze. Remove and buff with a microfiber cloth.

Since the blade is just painted, why not just wax it with the rest of the body? That's what I plan to do.

I did wax the painted blade. I'm asking about the aluminum parts like the mirrors.

I wax my mirror covers. It is still an aluminum paint or coating. I have had my car for over a year now and they still look good.

I have been using a product called fast wax. I bought it sometime back and it is mainly for glass but works great on Alu-optic parts. It also works well on the body for quick cleanups. They also recommend it for rims which I have not tried.

http://fw1cleaningwax.com/. I bought it at a car show a while back.

I thought the mirrors were also painted plastic not true aluminum.

I wax mine using P21S when I do the rest of the car. After routine washing, in between wax jobs, I hit them with Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer using a microfiber cloth.

The Meguiar's does a great job of removing water spots and the aluminum really "pops" afterwards. So far, the combination of wax and quick detailer has made it VERY easy to remove any bugs/tar with no scratches or swirls (knock on wood).

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll treat it like the rest of the painted surfaces.
