Re inspected vehicle checked torque on all suspension components and sub frame. Inspected all suspension bushing and control arms for damage. Added chassis ears to vehicle in front control arm area and upper control arm link. Test Drove vehicle again for 35 to 45 minutes, noise returned was unable to verity from where noise was coming from using chassis ears, again re installed chassis ears on trailing arm bushing and test drove vehicle again for 35 to 45 minutes. Noise was verified coming from lower front trailing control arm bushing. Called TACS and they had me check with chassis ears again to verify noise was coming from lower trailing arms or upper control arm mounts, test drove vehicle 35-45 min to verify noise was coming from lower control arm trailing arm bushings. Replaced front lower trailing arms bushing with new. Again was test driven 35-45 min and noise was no longer present. Vehicle was test driven over night again by shop foreman and was verified that repair was complete."

Now the clunking noise was gone but the dealership was damaged by car. I saw one 1 inch scratch on the right lower side skirts and few scratches on the front lower bumper. Definitely the damage was done by the technician when they test drove the car. Talked to the service manager and he said they will repair the car for me. I will returned to the dealership next monday for repair.

In Addition, the EPC light was on when I drove the car last light. I will see the EPC light still on when I drive the car later today.

My car seem problem keep coming and this is my 5th time going to the dealership for less than a month. My car is only 1 year one and only have 8000 miles.

I will speak to AOA again today to keep them update.
Great update man. Appreciate the feedback. I will keep this so I can show it to my dealer. I always thought it was some bushing.

I've heard the same sounds in the back of the car. It's a shame that since they've done the fix to my exhaust, I haven't had any real hot weather. It only happens in hot weather and when the car has been driven on the highway for an hour.

Thanks for you update! I don't have much warranty left so I'm hoping its not the control arms

Here is my repair bill....
<img src="http://images54.fotki.com/v77/photos/6/673374/2404019/clunk_repair-vi.jpg">

8K0-411-317-D
4D0-411-327-G

2 of each.

Car is very quiet, I won't say its resolved until I can take the car on a longer drive (likely early next week). I really think this did the trick, the cars overall handling just feels better and tighter. I have a feeling audi got a **** batch of bushings from their supplier.

Its far more faint but I am still getting the clunking sound. Bushings on this car suck. I might go aftermarket with an H&R setup....

Can you provide the part numbers for the parts they replaced for you? Or take a picture of your service record? Much appreciated!

Thanks for sharing this information. If you don't mind telling us also which dealer did this for you. I'd like to be able to tell Audi of Arlington (dealer I take my car to) that they can call that dealer to verify that we have this problem in our cars. Also hoping this can prevent long test drives of our cars to prevent other damages that can happen.

Thanks again,
aty

My service dealer is Beverly Hills Audi, basicly it too me 4 visits to get everything resolve.
1st visit, dealer told me everything is fine, nothing wrong with the suspension.
2nd time, had an appointment with the shop foreman and did the test drive together and we both heard the sound from the suspension. Leave the car to the dealership and readjusted everything.
3rd time, the sound still there, called AOA for help, dealership asked me to bring back the car, they have everything reinstall and replaced.
4nd time, pick up the car and found out the dealership damage the car and bring back the car repair.

Long story short, I would recommended everyone make an appointment with the shop foremen in the afternoon and do a test drive with him.
Then you should drive the car in the morning for more than hour and try to recreate the sound and show it to foremen. (Clunking noise is due to the hot weather - heat of the suspension area) If the dealership don't have any proof of the problem, they not really going to help.
If the dealership still not going to help, call AOA and ask them to follow up with you. They should follow up with the dealership every two days.

Hope this would help and good luck !!

Response to mbc320sport's post no. 8:
This is what I want to prevent as much as possible. The long test drives, bring back the car to the dealer, leave it with us for the night, etc. That is why I called AoA yesterday and asked what I can do to minimize the hassle to say the least.. I was told that the dealer has to verify that the problem is there. Otherwise they won't do anything. I even offered to pay for the parts if they will cover the labor. This is something doable but can affect the warranty if this happens again in the future since I'm paying for the parts. Best thing to do is make an appointment, drive your car for about half an hour on bumpy roads, wait for the noise to pop out then go straight to the dealer.

Thanks,

Default I still haven't taken mine in.

I'm dreading bringing my car in for this problem. I'm glad you all have posted the documentation of your experiences. I had the wife stand in the driveway as I pulled in and she said it was very noticeable from the outside. I may have to wait until next summer to find the time to get it fixed...we shall see. Thanks again and I will post a summary of my experience whenever it occurs.
