Condition of Battery
Hello All,
I have a 2012 S4, since I could remember, my car battery always sucked, I would let it sit for about a week and the battery would be dead. Now I am getting warning thats my battery is weak. The car has less than 13000 miles on it, could I really need a new battery already? This past winter I started using a trickle charger to prevent the battery from dying while it was sitting. Attached are screen shots of the battery in VCDS the first is the engine off and the second is with the engine on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That battery looks like it might be done. I've noticed similar with mine, but not to that degree. I put the charger on my battery and no longer will it report above 50% in the MMI display. My car is just 3 yrs old and the battery should not be cooked already.
I think I would ask the dealer about getting a replacement before you get stuck somewhere.

2.5 years, 20K, daily driven though, MMI battery level won't go above 60%, dips to 40% if I use the seat warmers often. I'm guessing I got a year or so left on it.

Phil, there's an access panel at the base of the windshield. It's underneath the wide plastic cover that runs the entire width of the engine compartment. Look near the center, the lid pulls off. Under that you will find another small door that's a bit tricky to open. I think it's marked with a "+" sign.
You pick up your negative connection on a silver post marked with a "-" sign near the A/C hi pressure lines. It's fairly obvious.

I had my battery replaced under warranty when the car was about 1.5 years old... Drove the car in mid Dec. yanked the cables and went to start in Feb. and it was totally dead... Audi sent a tech out to my house and they replaced it right in my garage... FWIW the stock battery weighs 57lbs!!! Haven't checked the new one lately but probably should given their history...

Do you use an official Audi trickle charger or will any brand do?
