Default Is the dealer (service) trying to rip me off?!?

We have a 2015 Audi S4 with 20,000kms (about 12,000 miles). Took it in for annual service and was told needed new rear brakes and new tires. Rear brakes at 5mm each side. Tires were recommended because dealer uneven tire were at front. The tires are at front: 5mm left and 4.5 mm right with 5mm each side in rears. I said no thanks.

We have not driven the S4 much in the last 18 months except for weekends because me and my wife moved and we each have walked to work. Interestingly, last year's service all tires were noted to be at 5mm.

There have been reports of early brake wear .The Conti tires that come on many of the S4s are $hit and have really poor wear. I would not allow the dealer to replace my brakes or tires. I'm inclined to believe the tires are not good. Buy them elsewhere. If your brakes are in fact worn, I would never replace them with OEM Audi pads. I would have an independent garage replace them and get ceramic pads that don't leave black break dust or something other than the OEM pads. Dealer will only install Audi parts. BTW, you still have a little life left on both the tires and brakes.

FWIW, I replaced original Conti "summer performance" tires at ~ 7,500 (easy) miles because of tread wear.
The replacement (Conti WS 06) all seasons are now at 7,000 with plenty of tread left. Purchased from local tire dealer...

Yes, but realize that the OEM tires are probably UHP summer tires and the Conti DWS 06 tires are all season tires. I have no problem with that . All season tires almost always have better tread life. I am currently running the Conti DWS original tires myself. Just saying that you are not comparing apples with apples. And there are UHP summer tires out there that have much better tread life than the OEM Contis as well. But not as good as the A/s tires.
