Gearbox Malfunction: You Can Continue Driving
Yeah... no you can't, unless your 85 and like going 20 mph. Anyhow hello all.. So I have a 2012 Audi S4 Prestige. A few days ago while heading home from Starbucks this flashed up on my screen as well as a TPMS Systems Failure.. I pulled the codes with my RossTech and found it to be the issue that is in the TSB where G676 needs to be replaced. So I have a few questions for anyone that had this issue.
I've been driving for 30+ years and can still count on one hand all of the times I have paid a mechanic. I do all of my own work. Has anyone here done this repair themself? If so how was it? How long did it take you? Did you have any other problems after this repair with the transmission.
If you paid a mechanic other than Audi what did it run for the work? I did call for a quote and after talking to him for a bit he quoted me around $1000 which feels rather low. I've heard this is a 15 hour job. But he said its more like a 6 hour job. Is it the Engineer Scott principle in play here?
Does anyone know a good mechanic in the California Bay area that can do this job if I decided to forgo all of the hassle this time. If I do I think that will be my 5th finger..
TIA
Mike
