Default Good ol' SD Cards

Hi all,

I followed with interest a while ago a thread that said some members had managed to get a 64GB SD card working as a source in their S4 entertainment system. Off i trundled and dutifully bought a 64GB and gave it a go. Not a goer (unreadable). Could anybody please enlighten me as to what their card specs are if they have got this working. I have a LOT of music. Would love to put 2 128GB cards in if it would take it....it doesn't, but a couple of 64GBs are almost a good enough solution if I can get it to work. 2014 S4 in case there have been changes over B8 versions.

Thanks all.

I use the Sandisk Extreme 128GB card in my 2014 S4 (
Amazon Amazon
) and it works great.

I suspect the reason your 64gb card isn't recognized is due to how the card is formatted. I believe most cards larger than 32gb will come formatted using exFAT and you need it to be formatted using FAT32 for the car to recognize it.

Could you please elaborate on how to do this. Also, if anyone knows how to transfer playlists from iTunes please share. I usually just use the iPod but an SD with all my music on it would be great.

Yep, 32G is the max size that the reader will address, due to formating

Using a tool like this should work: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...?guiformat.htm. You should be able to click on the image from that page which will download a program to run. Once running that program you should just need to select the drive letter of your SD card and hit the start button.

Note that windows itself won't let you create a FAT32 partition larger than 32gb, so you have to use a third party tool to do it. Apologies if you are on a mac since I can't help at all there.

That's fantastic help thanks Boondagle. Those two 128GB cards at home are going to suddenly come into a lot of use! excellent advice.

So how do you get the car to recognize more than 4000 songs? I'm using a 32GB card, but i can't just fill it up and have the car recognize all the songs. I do have them in folders by artist and not just throwing songs on it.
