Default How do I install the factory B9 front plate holder on my S4?

I bought my 2018 S4 in a state that didn't need front plates, so I got the delete front plate option. They did give me the factory front plate holder for when I moved though. I tried installing it today and it felt like the part didn't match up to the grill, and that the clips were too short. I'm also not sure what the round holes on the holder are supposed to line up to in the pop-out section in the grill. There appear to be 2 possible spaces on the right and left side, but the distance between the corresponding holes doesn't measure out to be the same as the distance between the holes on the holder.

After you remove the filler plate, just follow this in reverse. Also, you need 2 screws. Did the dealer supply you with them?

Make sure that you got the right part for your car. There are lots of several different plate holder part numbers with different screw locations and I made the mistake of getting the wrong one. My experience trying to make it work was very similar to yours, but the right one clipped right in and screwed in without issue.

I just bought a used 2018 S4 and I'm also trying to get the correct front license plate bracket. I called the local Audi dealer's parts department, and the P/N they gave me was 8W0 807 285 AL 9B9. But I looked that up at https://www.audipartsstore.com/ and it says that part will not fit my car!

Further searching at https://parts.audiusa.com/ gave me two P/Ns. 8W0 807 285 F RP5 and 8W0 807 285 F RU6. Double-checking at https://www.audipartsstore.com/ confirms that they both will fit my car.
The difference between the two seems to be that the RP5 part is light gray and intended for S4s with a chrome grill, and the RU6 part is black for S4s with a black grill.

The black one is $232.80 at https://www.audipartsstore.com/ and the light gray one is $153.60. My car has the black optic package option, which includes a black grill. But considering that my license plate is mostly white, and it will cover all but the edges of the bracket, I think I'll go with the light gray bracket.

I have to say I think both of these are horribly over-priced, but I guess that comes with the territory. I've wanted an Audi for years, and now I have one! Comments, anyone, before I place the order?
