Considering Purchasing a 2012 Audi S4 - Few Questions
I'm currently driving a 2010 Audi A4 2.0 and I'm considering upgrading to the 2012 Audi S4 vehicle.
A few questions I was hoping to have answered:
1. Does the V6T engine suffer from similar oil burning issues as the 2.0L?
2. Is it possible to upgrade the headlights to the 2013+ model where instead of individual dot lights it's a solid light for the entire headlight?
3. Is it possible to swap the grill to something similar to the 2013+ models where it does not have that black/gray horizontal plastic piece i.e.: on newer models, this plastic piece is underneath the chrome grill, on the 2012 model, it's actually visible.
4. The car I'm looking at is CPO from a local dealership here in Toronto. They are asking $47,500 and it has 51,000KM's on it. What would be considered a fair price for this vehicle?
Any details would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The 3.0 (at least mine) uses almost no oil at all between changes. Great compared to my wife's 2011 Q5, which is pretty excessive (and leading to her trading it in in the next few weeks) but my last Audi was an 2.0 A5 and that didn't use oil, so while definitely a known issue, how bad all seems to depend randomly on the one you get.
Not sure about headlights, but grilles can be swapped out for cleaner look like an RS style.
$47,500 seems like a lot for 2012 with that mileage. I would think $ 42-44k would be more in line.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been on the fence as to whether to get a newer regular A4 or the older S4.
I would much prefer the engine and performance of the S4 but also like some of the subtle changes they made on the design of the new A4 models not to mention it would be a newer car.
Cars are such terrible investments to begin with and just not sure what's the right way to go here.
Thanks

My 2 cents:

No oil burn at all with mine...2012 with now 40k miles....warranty did replace the t-stat, which is a common (expensive warranty) problem to have...I did replace my grill with an RS4 style one from ECS (rather, I bought, mechanic replaced)...lights I'm sure can be changed, but for a TON of money...and yes, $47,500 seems expensive (CAN?)....so shop around more in your area...but I love mine. Does your CPO have the sport diff??

It has always been my contention that if you have an Audi(or any car for that matter, that does not have sever wear or a broken piston ring , the oil consumption is a result of incomplete piston ring seating. AND this is a direct result form not doing a more agressive break in proceedure. The audi recommned technique does not insure that the piston rings will be completely seated,.
You can get an Rs4 style grill that will have no center 'filler plate "on it. I agree that the center bar look is not great. What I did on both B8s was to have that center bar painted the body color. ( see my avatar)
For a reference, I paid $32k for a 2011 Prem+ with 49K miles in really good condition and well equipped 3 months ago.

I've had no oil burn issues with the 3.0T. I'm partial to the 2010-2012 S4 because of the hydraulic steering and normal engine sounds from the muffler instead of the speakers. The revised look of the 2013+ is so subtle most people who aren't into cars don't notice. Even people who are have trouble telling.
