I currently drive a 2011 328i and love the way in handles. I am thinking of getting an S4. In my research I found that Audi switched from hydraulic to electric steering after 2012. Is there a huge difference in feel between the two. I have noticed it when test driving newer 3 series.

I am on my 3rd B8/8.5 S4 I have gone from hydraulic to electronic and back to hydraulic. FOR ME, there is very little difference. Some will say they notice more of a difference though. When Audi first utilized the electronic steering in 2013, there was a lot of complaints. Audi came up with a fix for it that most are happy with. Most seem to think it is not a big deal. Don't write off a 2013 and newer just because of the steering. But really, it only matters what you think. What is more important to you, if you are concerned about handling and steering feel, is to make sure the car you drive/buy has a Sport Dif. You can adjust the steering, throttle response and the torque vectoring differential. You need to drive the car in Dynamic. If you have't done that. go back and drive the cars again. BTW, this car is light years better than a 328. Better than a 335i as well. Prior to my 2010 B8 S4 I drove an E92 335i. Nice car. Nowhere in the class of a B8/8.5 S4

I had a 2013 S4 from the first batch that arrived in North America and I never noticed any issues with the steering. I know there were some complaints but I never noticed anything.
