Average Gas in City Driving
What is everyone's average gas driving mpg?
I felt my 2013 S4 suck gas like there is no tomorrow. I am only getting like 13 mpg. I do city drving... and I am lead foot....

Probably the biggest misconception of this century is that the downsized FI engines in performance oriented cars magically give you better mpg. The numbers on paper can only be achieved if you drive like a grandma or at least take it easy most of the time. Everybody thinks 300hp comes for free. If you actually push the engine and take advantage of the power, the gas mileage of the V6T is no better than a V8 or it can be even worse due to the parasitic loss of the supercharger. When it comes to mpg, it's not what you drive, but how you drive.

I get about 19-20 city. We have too much traffic here for lead footed fun.

I hardly ever do city driving only but when I did it came to about 18mpg, but overall I'm getting about 22mpg...think I could do better but that moment when you floor the pedal....still makes me smile from ear to ear every day!

I am getting 22 overall (actual tracked in an app - not overstated trip computer). However, I do almost all highway driving (albeit also with a heavy right foot). When I do drive in the city, I know MPG's drop dramatically. 13 doesn't surprise me for all city driving with a heavy right foot. Stop lights in particular are really bad on MPGs if you sit at them a lot and also take off with a heavy foot from them frequently.

The gas mileage depends on how you drive. The car is very adaptable.
Driving very carefully in town, like having an egg between the right foot and the throttle, I can almost reach 18 mpg in ADS throttle comfort mode.
If I drive like most people, I get 16 mpg in auto mode.
Often see about 13 mpg when in dynamic mode.
I get around 11 mpg being lead footed in town & have reached as low as 8.9mpg in town with dynamic mode.
On a nice open flat freeway at 70mph with cruise control, I get about 28 mpg. On freeway rolling hills, 70mph with cruise control, I get about 25 mpg.

My normal commute is about 11 miles through back country roads with a lot of hills and some nice windy roads. I can't help tap into the S4's handling and acceleration at times and usually average about 17 to and from work. It's by no means highway driving but not city, stop-and-go driving either.
However, just last week I made an 80 mile drive each way and averaged 29.5 for the trip cruising at a steady 65. Pretty happy with those numbers.

My MPGs have gone up about 2-4 across the board on average once I changed to the AWE S-Flo intake. I average 24-28 on my mixed 11 mile commute each way (I don't go easy on it per se, but I do use cruise whenever possible), and 30-32 on the 180 mile drive to the 757 when I go down to see my girlfriend. It drops when in the 70 mph section as I usually cruise at 79, but it picks back up in the 65 sections where I cruise at 74. That seems to the sweet spot.

Last I checked I did 21+, with about half being highway driving (calculated by good old calculator).
That said, that also accounts for me pinning it every now and again... I get ~28 on the highway, and much less than the stated 18 in the city. Even modest driving ruins fuel economy...
