Just bought my 2014 S4 at end of lease
Just bought out my 2014 Estoril Blue S4 today! The car has just been such a perfect daily driver that I couldn't let it go. Power when I need it, laid back when I don't. Total confidence in any weather condition. My only regret is that I didn't get it in manual like my prior B8 S4, but honestly, the dual clutch is a great transmission. I drove the B9 S4 and was a little disappointed. The car felt light and tossable, not as solid and planted as the B8.5. Also the interior engine sound sounded more even more artificial, almost like a video game. The interior on the B9 is spectacular though. Was tempted to upgrade on that alone. Even though the B8.5 has a good reliability record and my service advisor says he has not seen any major issues with that model, I decided to get the extended Audi warranty. I think I got taken though. I was charged $2700 for 2 years and it sounds like others have gotten 3 years for the same amount. Oh well. Maybe I'll upgrade at that time to an RS5!

I feel the same way about mine, but no regrets here. I test drove an S4 with a manual transmission (coming from a B6 6MT A4 for 11 years) and didn't like it for some reason, so I went with the DSG.
Don't you have some remaining manufacturer warranty? Mine is a 2014 also and I have 10 months left.
How many miles on it now?
How many miles are you driving a year?
I only have about 22,000 miles and it's been rock solid.
I can't comment on the extended warranty but I know other members can.

I paid $2700 for a 3 yr/36k miles Fidelity Silver warranty 3 yrs ago. Great decision on keeping a great car. Love the color. I keep getting compliments on my Phantom 2011. Last night the man giving the compliments could not believe my car was a 2011. The design and styling is still contemporary. IMHO, Audi hit a home run the the B8/B85 S4. Maybe only a double with the B9.

Agree. The B8/8.5 is a great model line. I think of it as the Audi equivalent to the BMW e46 3-series/M3 line. I think it'll age well.
My car still had 6 months of warranty left but I had to sign the papers and pick up my daughter. The guy knew that and took advantage of me. Valuable lesson learned.

I formerly owned a B8.5 S4 and really liked it. Perhaps the best overall car I've owned. I too had considered buying it after my lease expired and gave some thought towards a B9 S4 but realized there is no satisfactory reason to upgrade to a B9 IMHO. Not even really sure why Audi went to a new turbo engine because I think the supercharged 6 is fantastic. Solid workhorse and of course no lag.
HOWEVER, I ended up pulling the trigger on a new 2017 S3 and am actually quite happy with my decision. As much as I loved my S4, I find myself having more fun in the new S3. More tossable and light on its feet. Better feedback behind the wheel and the engine sound is great as I oped for the resonator delete option.
The S3 is just the right size for me since I don't need to worry about carrying passengers and it's probably more like the older B6 generation S4 in terms of footprint which I like. I just think the new S4s have gotten too large and heavy.
In any case, I will always have fond memories of the B8.5 S4!

Good Plan
I believe I will be following along behind you with my 2015 (comes off 36 month lease in November this year). I only have 13k on the car at the moment, so its as good as new and still count it as one of my favorite cars to own. I've been tempted to go look at a B9, but don't see that happening based on various comments I have seen. Guess I will have to check into the warranty, so I appreciate the data points here.
