MMI Telephone Directory Limit?

MMI Telephone Directory Limit?
Hey all,
If I'm not mistaken, I think each 'profile' is limited to 2,000 telephone directory entries, yet the 3rd Gen MMI can store up to 5,000 total across multiple profiles. Any way to set it so that I can sync all of my contacts (my iPhone has greater than 2,000)? Not sure why you wouldn't be able to take advantage of all 5,000 if you're a single driver?
Advice or suggestions appreciated -- non-VAG and VAG.

Of course not. But my iPhone syncs through the cloud to all my Macs (i.e., all devices have all my contacts and frankly, I like that -- the devices and I don't have problem with it, even if MMI does). I haven't found a way to selectively edit out or remove unnecessary ones on the phone only, but there might be a way to do it. I'll need to ask Apple.

I sync everything with Google Contacts on my iPhone. It's a wireless sync, which can also sync with the address books on your mac(s). You can setup groups and only have the "My Contacts" group sync with your phone... then just install the bookmark for Google Contacts on your iPhone should you need to find someone else.

Reporting back. Don't know if there's a way to get the MMI to accept more than 2,000 contacts. So for now, I'm just going to set up a smaller group of contacts (in Apple's Address Book on the Mac), and on the iPhone, sync that smaller group via Bluetooth instead of all contacts.
