Mute phone mic

Anyone know if you can mute the bluetooth phone mic when on a call? I spend alot of time on telecons and need to be able to do this. I could not find anything in the owners manual.

Thanks,
Greg

While on the phone screen in the MMI, hit the "Setup" button. I think it's in there. Were you looking in the owner's manual or the separate MMI user's manual? It may be in the latter.

It may not be possible. I've looked around the MMI for this option too. Perhaps you can mute the phone itself? (not ideal, I know)

That should work, since the phone just sees the car like any other bluetooth headpiece - when you mute the phone it mutes all bluetooth output too(or it's supposed to).

Tel -> Options

When you have the phone active in a call so you see the MMI change to the phone screen, hit the corner key that says options, then keep it on that screen. You can scroll through the 3 options there, and choose mute with the nav wheel and click it.

Once I type it out it sounds like a lot, but it's really easy. I think there's also a way to mute with the scroll wheel / mode button on the left of the steering wheel, but I just use the nav wheel.

One thing to watch out for: I think the MMI Mute option stays where you set it. If you turn mute on and then hang up, it will still be on mute the next call you take. This drove me nuts when I took delivery of the car last Friday and found I couldn't answer a call. Later on in my garage testing it, I eventually found the Mute option and turned it off.

Would have been nice if Mute was on one of the four corners of the Telephone screen or if there was some obvious indication on the phone screen that you are Muted.

Thanks for the info and the warning. It works as described above.

I had that problem, and it drove me nuts. Every call I made or that came in had the mic muted. I finally figured it out (I think). I agree it could be a little bit more obvious and simple to use!
