new brakes? or just lines?

Agree with starting with fluid, pads, lines. Depending upon your driving style, the track, and your intent this may be all you need. If you do go BBK, only the pads are throwaway but you have to expect to change pads often tracking a 3800 lb car.

If you're tracking them, it needs to go off. My brakes "over heated" because they were left on and I was hard on it during a track weekend. The StopTech Aero Rotor acts like a "air pump" by drawing air through the hub/hat and out the vanes of the rotors. The metal dust shields "suffocated" the rotors in which they couldn't "breathe".
So yes, they must be taken off if you're going to use it like it was intended (used very hard during track days). It shouldn't be a problem if you're just using it on a street.
